What is 'Create'?

According to Cambridge Dictionaries Online, create means 'to make something new' or 'invent something'. For example, Lat created the character 'Kampung Boy'.

All creations, start from one thing, an idea. This is why I chose a light bulb to illustrate my understanding of 'create'. It is through this idea, you can make something out of nothing.

What is 'Design'?

According to Cambridge Dictionaries Online, design means 'make or draw plans for something'. For example, this range of clothing is specifically designed for taller women.

Design to me is something you make for a specific reason with an emphasis on form, function and aesthetics. Referring to the image above, the idea is to make a Christmas card. If you create a birthday card, you could just write 'Merry Christmas' on a card. But if you design a birthday card, then, it becomes something aesthetically pleasing that serves its function.

I understand definition of "create" that you obtained from the dictionary however I do not really see the relation to that with a light bulb. Do you mean the literal invention of the light bulb or does the light bulb metaphorically symbolizes the moment of having an idea for a creation? Do explain if possible.

On the other hand, I totally agree with your explanation on what "design" means. It is a plan to make something for a certain function or purpose. Spot on.

I liked the way you used the dictionary quotation to define 'Create' and 'Design'. Your explanation of both concepts was pretty interesting. I liked how you had a 'light bulb' signify 'create' as it indicates that creation begins with ideas. My only suggestion would be to perhaps elaborate on both concepts a little more to give a clearer picture of what you're trying to convey, as the examples are slightly confusing in my opinion.

Grace, the light bulb metaphorically symbolizes the moment of having an idea for a creation. You know like in cartoon, if the character has an idea you will see the light bulb floating in the air. Same idea here.

Evan, what's so interesting about it? We were told to give reference if applicable.

Aditi, I was too lazy to write more.

The textual explanation here makes sense but the pictures don't really show the concepts of create and design very well. The light bulb itself is a symbol of an idea, but it doesn't do much as an explanation.
